Free NYC Summer Programs for Kids

Keep your child’s brain and body active and healthy this summer with these free New York City summer programs!

Summer is coming, and soon the kids will be out of school. Get your child involved in one of these free NYC summer programs to keep him or her active, learning, and healthy all summer long!

Kids in Motion

All ages
Free activities including sports, board games, fitness demos, guided walks, and water games are available at playgrounds throughout the five boroughs Tuesdays through Saturdays, from 10am–6pm. Drop in for a few hours or stay all day—programs are supervised by Kids in Motion staff. Find a program in your neighborhood here.

Brooklyn Soccer Clinic

Ages six and under
Free soccer classes happen every Sunday at 10am during June and July at the intersection of Shore Parkway and Bay 46th Street in Brooklyn. Call 1-718-259-2828 for more info!

Good Shepherd Services Summer Camps

Grades K–8
These free summer camps throughout Brooklyn and the Bronx combine outdoor fun with learning activities to keep your child engaged all summer and prepare him or her for the next school year. Sign up here!

Inside Schools Summer Classes

Grades K–12
These free classes in math, science, art, and more are designed for elementary, middle, and high school students who want to keep learning through the summer or who could benefit from extra instruction. Find the right program for your child here.

Summer Sports Experience

Ages eight to 14
These drop-in clinics throughout New York City provide sports instruction and practice time for kids to improve their baseball, basketball, flag football, lacrosse, soccer, track, Frisbee, and volleyball skills (and more!). Programs run all summer and no sign-up is required. Find out more here.

The Fresh Air Fund Summer Camping Program

Ages eight to 15
The Fresh Air Fund offers free summer camp experiences to girls ages eight to 12 and boys ages eight to 15. Find out if your child is eligible, and download an application here.

City Parks Foundation Sports

Ages eight to 17
Free tennis, golf, and track and field lessons are available through the City Parks Foundation all summer long. Find out how to register here!

College Now Summer Programs

Grades 9–12
Arts and humanities, communications, health, math, science, business, social sciences, and college prep classes are open to all NYC public high school students. Choose your program and find out how to apply here.

SchoolFood Summer Meals

Ages 18 and under
Free breakfast and lunch are provided to New York City youth ages 18 and under all summer. No ID or proof of residence is required. Find a SchoolFood location here.
